We're the Beachcombers: a volunteer-run crew putting on fireworks, fêtes, bingo, quizzes, giant marrows and the odd band night, all for local causes. No committee jargon, plenty of cake.
Not a beach cleaning club. Sorry.
Despite the name, we're the lot who make sure Abbotsbury has a reason to leave the house. We run most things from the Swan Inn, nobody gets paid a penny, and every event exists to raise money for local charities and village projects.
Fireworks that pull crowds from Weymouth and Bridport. A fête with more vintage tractors than seems reasonable. A horticultural show where the marrow rivalry is very real. Bingo with heckling, and quiz nights where the marking is contested. That's us.

Abbotsbury Fireworks Night
One of Dorset's most loved community fireworks displays, and we're going all out this year to make it the best fireworks night near Weymouth. Hundreds of you turn up every year from Weymouth, Dorchester and Bridport, and we intend to earn it.
Boxing Day Bonanza
A cosy get together at the Swan the day after Christmas, a good excuse to get out of the house, see everyone you missed over the holidays, and warm up by the fire.
New Year Party at the Swan Inn
Live music, fancy dress dancing, and a midnight countdown with your neighbours. The Beachcombers' way of seeing out the old year and welcoming the new one.
Beachcombers Bingo Night
Lively, welcoming, and downright entertaining. Our bingo nights at the Swan Inn are now a local tradition, and they're a lot funnier than bingo has any right to be.
Band Night at the Swan
Energetic performances from a popular local band, a packed pub, and a great excuse to kick off the season with some proper live music.
Beachcombers Skittles Tournament
Teams, tactics, and considerably more competitiveness than a pub skittles alley should really allow. All welcome, no experience necessary.
