Abbotsbury Beachcombers’ Annual Horticultural Show
Every September, on a sunny Sunday (or sometimes a breezy one!), the wonderful folks of Abbotsbury Beachcombers host their much-loved Horticultural Show. It’s a day full of colour, creativity, and community spirit, and we’d love for you to join us!
This blooming marvellous event is proudly hosted every year at the Swan Inn, Abbotsbury — a proper village pub with character, charm, and the perfect garden for showing off giant vegetables and perfect petunias.
The Horticultural Show is more than just a competition – it’s a celebration of all things homegrown, handmade, and heartfelt.
Jams, Chutneys & Homemade Preserves
We kicked off with rows of jars brimming with flavour. Whether tangy, sweet, or spicy – the judging table smelled amazing!

Baking Brilliance
The cake table was a showstopper, stacked with sponges, scones, and all things sugary. No soggy bottoms here!

Floral Fancy
From delicate arrangements to bold bouquets, the flower entries added a splash of colour and a whiff of sweet perfume.

Vegetable Giants & Marrow Madness
Biggest veg? Check. Funniest looking carrot? Absolutely. The veg competition had people in stitches – and awe!

Fruit & Veg Displays
Precision plating, juicy apples, and perfectly ripe tomatoes. Garden pride was in full swing!

Community and Charity
The show isn’t just about ribbons and trophies – it’s a huge part of our community spirit. Throughout the year, the Beachcombers support local charities with fundraising events, and the show is one of our top dates for giving back.
A massive thank you to everyone who entered, visited, donated to the raffle, or sponsored the event. Your support keeps the magic alive!
