About Us
The Abbotsbury Beachcombers Association is a non-profit community group based in the heart of West Dorset. We’re dedicated to bringing the people of Abbotsbury and the surrounding area together through regular events that are fun, inclusive, and full of village spirit.
Our events help raise valuable funds for local projects and charities. Whether it’s bingo nights, firework displays, vintage vehicle shows, or the much-loved Horticultural Show, the Beachcombers are at the heart of it all.
Our Two Main Events
Abbotsbury Summer Fête – Saturday 26th July 2025
Held on Saturday 26th July 2025 from 12:00 to 16:00, the Abbotsbury Summer Fête is one of Dorset’s best-loved village celebrations. With vintage vehicles, craft stalls, children’s activities, and a dog show, it’s a classic day out for the whole family. Come along and enjoy food, games, music, and a brilliant community atmosphere in the heart of West Dorset.
Fireworks Night
Every November, we light up the skies over Abbotsbury with our spectacular community fireworks night. With hot food, games, and a welcoming atmosphere, it draws crowds from Weymouth, Dorchester, Bridport and beyond. Entry is free and donations go towards local causes.
Other Community Events
- Horticultural Show: A September tradition featuring vegetables, flowers, crafts, and homemade treats.
- Boxing Day Gathering: A relaxed festive get-together with friends and neighbours.
- Bingo Nights: Held throughout the year at the Swan Inn – fun, prizes, and fundraising rolled into one!
- Skittles Tournaments: Enjoy classic pub fun with a competitive twist and plenty of laughs.
Why We Do It
Every event we run helps raise funds for community needs, village improvements, and local charities. The Beachcombers Association is run entirely by volunteers who care about keeping Abbotsbury thriving, connected, and full of joy.
We believe in preserving village traditions while bringing in fresh ideas – from raffles and skittles to large-scale public displays and family-friendly celebrations.
